Free API tier

Every signed-up account gets 600 CPU credits per month of full REST API access — no credit card required. Credits renew every calendar month (non-rolling: unused credits do not carry over, and the balance does not accumulate month to month). Upgrade to a paid plan any time for a higher monthly allowance and, on Professional and Enterprise, priority processing.

Prepaid credit packs

Need a one-time top-up instead of a recurring plan? Credit packs are a one-time purchase, never expire, and stack on top of any plan (including the free tier) — they are only spent after your monthly plan or free-tier credits run out.

Credits Pack 10K
$9.99 — never expires
Credits Pack 50K
$39.99 — never expires

Sign up or sign in, then buy credit packs from your billing dashboard.

How credits work

VideoComposer uses a credit-based model where one credit equals one second of processing time, rounded up. Credits are consumed based on actual server processing time — not the duration of your video or the size of the file. A 10-second trim of a 2-hour video costs roughly 10 credits, not thousands.

Typical credit usage by operation (90-day production median):

  • Trim / cut — ~3 credits per job. Trim cost is dominated by fixed processing overhead, not output length, so short and long trims cost about the same in practice.
  • Convert — ~7 credits for a typical file; conversion time scales with file size and length, so the largest 10% of files run ~60 credits.
  • Merge (compose) — ~5 credits per output video
  • Watermark (overlay) — ~15 credits per minute of output (estimate — production volume for this operation is still too low to measure precisely)

What that means in minutes: 10,000 credits (Starter) is about 166 minutes of continuous processing time — enough for roughly 3,300 typical trim jobs (~3 credits each) or 1,400 typical convert jobs (~7 credits each) at these production medians. Your effective cost per minute of output video depends on the operation: about $0.015-$0.03 per minute of output for a typical convert job on Starter, and a flat few cents per job for trim regardless of length.

Fair, metered billing: credits are deducted after a job completes, based on the actual server processing time measured for that job — never a flat per-minute rate or an estimate based on your video's length or file size.

All browser tools are permanently free with no watermark and no account required (up to 5 jobs per 24 hours). A free account adds full API access with 600 credits/month, no card required — upgrade to Starter ($14.99/month) or above for higher volume and, on Professional and Enterprise, priority processing. Visit the developer overview for details on async job workflows, webhooks, and API key setup.

Yearly plans grant the full annual credit balance up front when you subscribe (12x the monthly amount) rather than the monthly figure shown on the plan card above — credits still reset at renewal and do not roll over further.

Pricing FAQ

Is VideoComposer free to use?
Yes, in two ways. Anonymous users can run up to 5 processing jobs per 24 hours in the browser with no account or credit card required. Creating a free account also unlocks the API: 600 CPU credits per month, renewing monthly, no credit card required. No watermark is ever added to outputs on any tier.
What is a credit and how does pricing work?
One credit equals one second of video processing time, rounded up to the nearest second. Credits are consumed based on actual processing time — not video duration or file size. A free account includes 600 credits/month at no cost; Starter starts at $14.99/month for 10,000 credits; Professional at $69.99/month for 100,000 credits; Enterprise at $399.99/month for 1,000,000 credits. Prepaid, never-expiring credit packs are also available (10,000 credits for $9.99, 50,000 for $39.99) for one-time top-ups on top of any plan.
Do I need to pay to access the API?
No. Creating a free account gives you full REST API access with 600 CPU credits per month, no credit card required. Paid plans (Starter, Professional, Enterprise) add higher monthly credit allowances, and Professional/Enterprise add priority processing. Prepaid credit packs are available for one-time top-ups on any tier, including the free tier.
Are there overage charges if I exceed my credit limit?
No. When you exhaust your credits, jobs are paused rather than billed at overage rates. Upgrade to a paid plan, buy a never-expiring credit pack, or wait for the monthly reset. There are no surprise overage charges.
Can I cancel or change my plan at any time?
Yes. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time from your account dashboard. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period — no penalties. Cancelling a paid plan returns your account to the free API tier (600 credits/month); any prepaid credit packs you have purchased remain on your account and never expire.
How is VideoComposer pricing different from Shotstack or Clideo?
Shotstack lists starter credits and a sandbox for testing, then pay-as-you-go credits or subscriptions from $39/month for ongoing production usage — it does not offer a permanent free production API tier. Clideo requires signup and adds a watermark to free exports. VideoComposer offers free browser tools with no watermark and no signup, plus a free API tier (600 credits/month, no card) for signed-up accounts, with paid plans starting at $14.99/month for higher volume.
What happens to my credits if I do not use them all?
Monthly plan and free-tier credits reset at the start of each billing cycle (or calendar month, for the free tier) and do not roll over. Plan your usage accordingly — or contact us about Enterprise plans with flexible rollover options. Prepaid credit packs are separate from this: they never expire and are only spent after your monthly credits run out.
Is there a free trial for paid plans?
There is no time-limited trial, but there is a permanent free tier: browser tools with no account (up to 5 jobs/day), and a free account with full API access (600 credits/month, no card). When you need higher volume or priority processing, upgrade to a paid plan.
What are prepaid credit packs, and how are they different from a subscription?
Credit packs are one-time purchases — Credits Pack 10K ($9.99, 10,000 credits) and Credits Pack 50K ($39.99, 50,000 credits) — that never expire and are not tied to a billing cycle. They stack on top of any plan, including the free tier, and are only drawn from after your monthly plan or free-tier credits are exhausted, so they are a good fit for occasional bursts of usage without committing to a higher recurring plan.
